On a scale of 1–10, how much do you enjoy running your business?

  • 1–3: It’s time to make some big changes

  • 4–6: You’re doing OK, but there’s room to improve

  • 7–9: Amazing — let’s aim for that 10

  • 10: Incredible (and surprisingly rare!)

As an online business manager for small businesses, I speak to business owners every single week who tell me the same things:

😦 “There’s never enough time.”
😦 “Sorry this is late.”
😦 “Something went wrong and this didn’t get done.”

And honestly? I get it. Running a business is demanding, and when you add life into the mix, it can feel relentless.

Why did you start your business in the first place?

Take a moment to think back. Why did you start?

Maybe you:

  • Loved baking, creating, or making something with your hands

  • Knew you could genuinely help people with their finances or admin

  • Left teaching or employment to work around family life

  • Were fed up working for someone else and wanted to do things your way

That excitement, that sense of freedom and purpose — that is how your business should feel most days.

But for many business owners, the reality looks very different.

If you rated your business enjoyment 1–3

First of all, don’t panic. 🤯 This is fixable.

Ask yourself:

  • What specifically isn’t working right now?

  • Do you still enjoy the core service you provide?

  • Which tasks drain your energy or take far longer than they should?

If the answer to enjoying your main service is yes (and it usually is), then the problem isn’t your business; it’s the admin, systems, and processes around it.

This is where many clients choose to hire a virtual assistant to help delegate admin tasks without the cost or commitment of hiring locally.

If you rated yourself 4–6

You’re in a strong position, 🙁 but you’re probably stuck.

Many small business owners at this stage want to grow, but can’t because they’re spending all their time on non-revenue tasks. You have two options:

  1. Work longer hours (not sustainable), or

  2. Get the right operations support for small business owners

With the right online business manager, you can start to streamline business admin, free up time, and focus on the work that actually moves the needle.

If you’re sitting at 7–9

I love this for you,🩷 genuinely. A business that brings you joy is everything.

But even here, there’s often an opportunity to increase freedom. Outsourcing doesn’t mean something is wrong, it means you’re ready for more space.

Whether that’s:

  • One day a month doing something just for you

  • More time with family or friends

  • Space to think strategically instead of reactively

This is where online business management for service providers really shines.

You don’t have to love every part of your business

And you shouldn’t feel guilty about that.

  • If you’re an accountant who hates writing newsletters – pass them on

  • If you’re creative and invoicing makes your brain hurt – delegate it

  • If systems and processes feel boring or overwhelming – that’s my zone

You do what only you can do. Delegate the rest.

How the right support changes everything

When you have the right small business productivity support, your to-do list gets done, even the jobs you’ve been avoiding for months. The guilt lifts. The mental load eases. You save time, energy, and headspace.

This is how you:

  • Save time as a small business owner in the UK

  • Learn how to delegate effectively

  • Get support as an overwhelmed business owner

  • Fall back in love with your business

If you’re ready to stop spinning plates and start enjoying what you’ve built, I’d love to help.

Let’s create a business that works for you – not one that runs you into the ground.
